The Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM), through its Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) Group, trained the procurement practitioners of the Department of Agriculture (DA) on the use of the modernized PhilGEPS (mPhilGEPS) from December 5-6, 2023.

As among the pioneering agencies in the implementation of mPhilGEPS’ eBidding Facility, the two-day comprehensive training equipped the the DA Procurement Division, Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), and Technical Working Group with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the new features and functionalities of the portal.

Ms. Mary Jane Dacumos and Mr. Mark Jonnel Lantin of PhilGEPS’ IT Research and Planning Division headed the discussion, highlighting notable advantages and benefits of using mPhilGEPS which include reduced procurement costs, visibility on audit trails, and an increase in competition that results in more competitive price bids.

The mPhilGEPS is the upgraded version of the existing PhilGEPS site — the single, centralized electronic portal that serves as the primary and definitive source of information on government procurement.

The continuous enhancement of the PhilGEPS and PS-DBM’s relentless efforts to familiarize client-agencies ahead of the transition form part of the agency’s digital transformation initiatives, ultimately aimed at creating a more sustainable and transparent public procurement process.
