PS-DBM is bound to Batangas!

May 2, 2024

The Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM), in preparation for the conduct of the PS-DBM on Wheels in Batangas City on June 5-6, 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the city’s local government unit (LGU) and met with Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha-Mariño, other officials, members of the Bids and Awards Committee, as well as supply officers and personnel.

Representing PS-DBM were Engr. Jaime Navarrete, Jr., Director for Regional Operations Group; Dave Valderrama, Depot Management Division; and Robert Humarang, Marketing and Sales Division.

Bannering the theme “Abot-kayang Produkto, Abot-kamay an Serbisyo,” the PS-DBM on Wheels is geared towards driving the agency’s products and services closer to its stakeholders in areas without a regional depot office. The event is primarily aimed at offering Common-use Supplies and Equipment (CSE) to client-agencies, in fulfillment of its mandate to operate a centralized procurement system for CSE of the whole government. This is likewise stipulated in Section 22 of the General Provisions of the 2024 General Appropriations Act, mandating national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state universities and colleges, and LGUs to procure CSE from PS-DBM.

The event is also an opportune time for PS-DBM to conduct training sessions on the policies of PS-DBM, including the procurement reforms that the present Management implements, in a bid to capacitate regional client-agencies in public procurement matters.

Geographically positioned in an area that is accessible to other cities, municipalities, and LGUs within Region IV-A and IV-B, Batangas City will host the PS-DBM on Wheels at the Sports Center-Coliseum — bearing a large capacity that can accommodate the targeted number of government agencies.

Through this initiative, PS-DBM looks into expanding its presence outside Metro Manila anchored in its 12-point agenda, specifically the upscaling of logistics and supply chain management.
