In support of the Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Animal Industries’ (BAI) digitalization efforts, the Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM), by invitation, conducted a training on the use of modernized Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) among the procurement practitioners of BAI held in Clark, Pampanga, April 2025.

The activity provided hands-on training on how to navigate through the functionalities of the modernized PhilGEPS, with emphasis on utilization of procurement platforms such as the Virtual Store, the eMarketplace, and the eBidding Facility. Other topics included the mandate of PS-DBM and a general overview of the PhilGEPS as the single, centralized electronic portal that serves as the primary and definitive source of information on government procurement.

Under the New Government Procurement Act (NGPA), the PhilGEPS also now undertakes the role of being the primary channel in the conduct of government procurement activities, employing new features geared towards the fulfillment of a complete government online procurement process that improves analytics insight and system integration.

The training was facilitated by Princess Sabio and Stephanie Dela Cruz of the PS-DBM’s Information Technology Research and Planning Division (ITRPD), and Robert Humarang of the Marketing and Sales Division (MSD)—all of whom facilitated the practical exercises for enhanced experience.

Through these engagements, PS-DBM manifests its support for the digital transformation efforts of the government, thereby establishing a more efficient, transparent, and progressive public procurement process. | April 7, 2025/GD
