Microsoft Philippines in cooperation with Procurement-Service-PhilGEPS, hosted the first CIO Summit for Public Sector from April 6, 2016 to April 8, 2016 at Amorita Beach Resort, Panglao Bohol.

With a theme “Digital Pilipinas- Transformation Starts with Us,” Microsoft and PS-PhilGEPS gathered IT experts from different government agencies to take the lead in transforming and optimizing digital data in creating government services.

The 3-day summit provided the participants the knowledge and fresh insights on the trends on Information Technology. Speakers from Philhealth, SSS and from other government sectors shared how they changed the way they function through strong data governance and citizen participation. On the other hand, other agencies identified their needs and opened the possibility of adopting the best practices to their agencies as well. Speakers also gave lectures on mobile government, shared services and crowd sourced citizen participation which will help the government agencies in the Philippines fast track its services.

 

Atty. Jose Tomas C. Syquia, Executive Director IV of the PS-PhilGEPS, provided the opening remarks on the 2nd day of the event. He showed some mobile devices that he owned and explained how technology has transformed and how these devices helped and changed him, professionally and personally.

“Changing our Mindset to Embrace Transformation” was one of the highlights of the event. Agencies were grouped to share their insights and discussed how technology will provide an efficient and effective government service. It was the general conclusion that, undoubtedly, this transformation will also give us a more transparent government.

Digitally empowered, the CIO Summit for the Public Sector was indeed a success.
